What We Are:

A Church fully sacramental/liturgical:

We celebrate the living historic forms of the liturgies of the church and the seven Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Eucharist (Holy Communion), Confession, Healing, Holy Orders and Holy Matrimony.

A Church fully evangelical:

We are a church holding to a high view of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, believing them to contain all things necessary for salvation; nothing can be taught as necessary for salvation that is not contained therein. We are committed to the preaching of the Gospel to fulfill the great commission. We believe that we are saved by grace alone and justified by faith in Christ who is calling us to a personal relationship with Him.

A church fully charismatic:

We are a church open to the continued working of the Holy Spirit. We believe that through the baptism of the Holy Spirit all believers are empowered to participate in the fullness of ministry. The baptism of the Holy Spirit releases in the believer both the fruit and gifts of the Spirit for the building up of the church and the advancement of the Kingdom of God.

Consensus government:

We are a church governed by bishops in apostolic succession who are humbly submitted to the leading of the Holy Spirit and to each other. At all levels of government, we are a house of prayer, desiring to hear the voice of God. Decisions are made in council upon coming to a consensus. The church is administered by the orders of bishops, priests, deacons, and laity. All baptized Christians are ministers of the church.

What to Expect

When you attend our service you may find us similar in some ways, and different in others, then churches you have already attended. Although there are many kinds of churches, they fall into three major categories—or streams—of worship:

Charismatic. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Emphasis on the Spirit
Evangelical. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .Emphasis on the Bible
Liturgical. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Emphasis on the Sacraments

At COTR, we blend these three streams into one river of worship. Our worship is Biblical, liturgical and Spirit-filled, ancient and modern, holy and joyful. We invite you to come visit, and experience it for yourself.

More About What We Do

Cultivating Hearts of Compassion for The Least of These

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recover of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. – Luke 4:18-19

God has called us to pray and believe in faith for those caught in any form of bondage to be set free and experience the grace and mercy of the one who gave Himself as a ransom for the whole world that all people of all nations and races may be reconciled to Him.

Prayer

We believe the local church should be a community of intercession and worship, a place where we stand before God on behalf of others. Jesus always intercedes for us and tells us to do the same. Therefore we encourage private, family and corporate prayer and worship.

Spirit

As a charismatic church we acknowledge the presence and activity of the Holy Spirit working in and through believers today. This is seen not only in our worship, but also in our daily lives as He empowers us to do His will.

Holy Communion

At each service, we come to the Lord’s table and know Him in the breaking of the bread. At the center of worship is the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist (Holy Communion) which we believe is the real presence of Christ. All Christians baptized in the name of the Trinity are welcome to participate.

Healing

We encourage one another to believe in God’s healing power through Spirit led, faith filled sacramental prayer.

Teaching

In a world lacking foundations we teach the truth in God’s word as it has been passed down from the apostles. Through pulpit ministries, Sunday School, Children’s programs and a variety of other venues, we hear the truth, and are challenged to live it out, impacting the world through the Kingdom of Christ.

Fellowship

Through various ministries at CCEC we gather together for mutual encouragement, that we may bear on another’s burdens and grown in our love for one another in union with Christ.

Ministry

At COTR we encourage all members of the body to seek God’s will for their gifts to be utilized in the Kingdom of God.

ICCEC

Our church is uniquely connected to the International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church (ICCEC) and in submission to it’s Bishops. While the ICCEC is a relatively young communion, it occupies a position within the crucible of historic faith through both Anglican and Catholic [i.e., Catholic Apostolic Church of Brazil] lines; receiving its apostolic succession through pure lines of undisputed orthodox Christianity. While rooted in the ancient we also believe that the ICCEC has been raised by God to be a new jurisdiction with pillars in the historic, apostolic churches as well as the charismatic and evangelical movements of our own generation. In this respect the ICCEC exists as a “convergence of streams” — a unifier of the liturgical/sacramental, evangelical, and charismatic tributaries of the Church Universal, which flow into the one river, whose streams make glad the city of God, the Holy Place where the Most High dwells” (Psalm 46:4).

We are men and women of faith gathered from diverse backgrounds seeking an expression of the Church that is fully sacramental-liturgical, evangelical and charismatic; a Church that is submitted to the authority of scripture, as interpreted by the continuing witness of the ancient Church and governed by consensus. Our worship is Biblical, liturgical and Spirit-filled, ancient and contemporary, holy and joyful. We are committed to advancing God’s kingdom by proclaiming the Gospel to the least, the lost, and the lonely.
